The stylus has 3 buttons, a power button, and volume up and down buttons.
The sound quality of the stylus is very good, it's as clear as the phones speaker. It also contains a LED indicator, which is blue when the stylus is turned on.

It's charged using the same USB cable that comes with the phone. The LED light on the stylus will be red while charging, and blue when it's finished charging.

The stylus also has a vibration feature, to make sure you don't miss any calls whenever the phone is docked, and muted.

Padfone Launcher Switcher

A Taiwanese developer created an app to allow Padfone users to assign different launchers for Phone and Pad mode.

The app is pretty simple, when you start it, you have the choice to assign any installed launcher to either the Padfone, or the Padfone Station.

The app should work on both, the Padfone and the Padfone 2. No root is required to use this app, but you have to make sure that it is checked in the Dynamic Display Switching (DDS) List.

Dynamic Display Switching

'''Dynamic Display Switching''' is simply the way the screen changes when you dock and undock the Padfone.

Starting from Android 4.0 (Ice Scream Sandwitch), the operating system supports mutliple screen sizes. Ona smaller 4.3 inch screen it will use a phone style layout, but on a larger 10.1 inch screen, the operating system uses a tablet interface, which has a lot more space.

But because the Padfone is both, a phone and a tablet, it has to be able to switch between the phone and tablet interface.

Asus created their own system for this, whenever you dock the Padfone inside the Padfone Station, you will see that the complete interface changes to suite the larger screen.

There is however one downside, a lot of apps do not support the Dynamic Display Switching. That's why we've created a list with compatible apps. The list shows if the app works in phone mode, in tablet mode, and if it does in both, if it supports the seamless switching.

==Transformer series docks==
The dock of the EeePad Transformer TF101 (first generation) is actually almost the same as the dock from the Padfone. The only difference between the two docks is that the hinch of the original Transformer is able to open the tablet more, the dock made for the Padfone Station can't bend as far as the original dock, but this is done to prevent it from tipping over.

The dock from the Transformer Prime is not interchangable since this dock has a completely different design.

==Station Dock for the Padfone 2==
At the launch of the Padfone 2 on October 16 2012 there was no Padfone Statoin Dcok presented for this version of he all-in-one device. A lot of rumours were started, people who said that Asus was working secretly on a Padfone 2 Station Dock, others said that it will never be released.

On Monday October 22 2012 [http://padfoneclub.com/news.php?extend.36 Asus told Padfone Club] that there was definetly not going to be a Padfone 2 Station Dock.
A lot of people in the community were dissappointed, and [http://padfoneclub.com/pl/poll/oldpolls.php?5 a poll on the Padfone Club website] showed that almost 40% of the people were not going to buy the Padfone 2 because it didn't have a Padfone Station Dock.

===Bootloader, firmware updates and wipe===
To get to the bootloader, hold down the Volume - button while powering up the phone. From here you can either directly factory reset (Option 2) or go to the advanced boot loader menu (Option 1).
Use the Volume + and - buttons to select the option that you want and use the power button to enter.
When going to option 1 you get the follwing options:
Apply update from external storage. Use this option when you download a new firmware file. Put it anywhere on a SD card and it will find it and present you the option to install the zip file.
Apply update from cache is the way to go if you don't have a micro sd card. However it means you have to download the firmware file to the phone's internal memory and have the necessary free space.

there have been two official ROM's for the PadFone. The original ROM that was put on there at first release.
On June 14th 2012 the firmware upgrade V9.18.8.41 was released OTA.
This firmware is downloadable from http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/#download

As of June 30th there are no custom roms released for the PadFone.

==Recovery==
* To recover your phone, go to the Asus PadFone download website: http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/#download.
* Hit Android as an operating system and unfold the firmware section.
* Download the appropriate file and save it to your SD card.
* Power off the phone
* While holding vol - power it back up.
* Select option 21 (Enter SD download mode) and hit power
* Select apply update from external storage
* select the firmware file that you downloaded and install it
* When switching between firmwares it is a good idea to also select and execute "wipe data/factory reset"
